A New Year, Hopefully a New Story!
“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”
— Ephesians 3:17–18
Where did the time go? As you can see I really struggled with my weekly farm blog as we really hit Harvest time. Honestly, I missed writing it and something on my heart says don't give up you can keep going and try again! Often times we always put higher expectations on ourselves! As I was thinking about these expectations that I put on myself I saw this picture that I had recently took of Connor! He is growing up so fast and he LOVES being outside and farming just as much as the rest of us, but the picture reflected more to me. Just the idea that there is so much on the outside of that open door with stuff left behind him.
What do I mean by this? Well what I mean is, there is so much beyond that open door if he just would walk out there. He just needs to trust himself to be able to walk out there and experience it. We need to do the same with The Lord! When we see an open door that he provides why not walk through it? He opened that door for a reason and we need to trust in him as we move through it.
But what do I mean about the stuff he left behind? I look at the empty space behind him and think about what he could be leaving in the "barn." He is leaving me, chores, sheep, etc but why do we struggle to leave things behind. Things like stress, anxiety, worry, toxic people, mistakes, etc? Sometimes when The Lord opens a door for us others may not be walking through that door with us. We have to trust the path in which we are on and accept that some things just need to be left behind so we can be successful in that next step.
This past year I have learned so much about myself, who I want to be, and I find that I am truly discovering where I want to be in life. God has created a passion for Agriculture and farming in my life and I want to share that with people and my kids. When we had Connor, I was afraid of how I was going to be able to continue everything I was doing with a baby (well now a toddler). The older kids were becoming more self sufficient, how will I be able to do the many things with a little one again? I knew that God would provide but I still had that worry there. God did provide and he gave us a little guy who loves the barn! It is just harder to do winter chores with a little one who can't go out in these cold temps. We can sneak him out to the barn on a little bit warmer weather but it is sometimes hard for him to waddle around in a bunch of snow gear and his favorite thing is to scoop poop!
As he grows and we all get little bits of his joy each day it is really exciting, but as we continue to change as a family farm we have to just trust in the Lord to provide. We are really working to provide the local community with great local food and our biggest thing is to strive to provide year round opportunities for fresh goodies. I know everyone starts out saying how a new year is going to be their year, but here at the farm we feel 2022 is going to be a story worth writing. The 365 page book that we are working on writing this year may not always go as planned, but we can't wait to dive into the writing process. God is so good to provide the things that we need to have a farm that can feed people. Stay tuned with us because I will try to keep this blog updated on a weekly basis and we are working to bring you weekly farm Videos via YouTube!
As always God Bless!
Keep Farming with Faith & Family!
