The End of Another Season
While the Earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.
Genesis 8:22
Do you every just wonder how God Creates the Sunsets? Every time I capture a great one over the fields, barn, animals, landscape; I just wonder how awesome of a painter he really is. The opportunity to see all these sunsets, and sunrises (sometimes: I am not a morning person) is truly a great experience, but it reminds me of one thing in farming, the close of a season.
We all picture sunsets as the end of our day and we know it's time to wind down, but sometimes for farmers that is not the end of the day. That sunset sometimes means darkness is coming in way too fast and we still have so much to get done. However, those sunsets remind me that we are now getting ready to close out the winter season and move into Spring or is it mud season? I sometimes get spring and mud mixed up because with spring comes mud and farms are muddy! Although we now must learn how to walk in the mud with out losing a boot and having a foot soaked in the cold mud, we are excited about the upcoming prospects of what is to be. Planting season, the hatching of new chicks, the horses once again back at work, and of course people joining us on the farm.
From one season to the next things don't slow down even though we think they do, they actually don't. There is always book work, marketing, planning, stressing, and of course the animal care. We know that as we get ready to move into that new season we will once again face challenges of weather, grass growing, mud, and more. The challenges are truly what keep us on our toes, keep our faith in check, and keep us moving because they are all part of the farming process.
So remember for farmers, the sunset doesn't always mean the close of the day, we may just be seen scrambling to get that last minute thing done in the daylight. Our jobs are never done, but we move on from day to day and season to season because it's all part of God's Plan.
Farming with Faith & Family Always!
God Bless
Amanda
